At A Glance

The Aramark Student Training And Recreation (STAR) Climbing Wall provides users with a 31-foot top rope wall and a 14-foot bouldering wall.  Harnesses, carabiners and climbing shoes are provided on site, and our Climbing Wall staff are trained to assist you with your climbing needs.

Climbing Wall Policies

1. Patrons must be 18 years or older and have valid Campus Recreation access to enter Campus Recreation facilities

2. Patrons must produce valid Temple University issued identification upon request.

3. Use of Campus Recreation facilities and programs is voluntary. Patrons assume all risk associated with participation.

4. The following actions are cause for immediate dismissal from the facility and may result in temporary or permanent loss of privileges:

a. Disorderly conduct

b. Inappropriate behavior

c. Abuse of facility or equipment

d. Abuse of staff members

e. Disregard for Campus Recreation policies

f. Violation of university policies or procedures including, but not limited to, the Student Code of Conduct

5. Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Personal items that are not in use must be stored in cubbies.

6. Shirt/Top must be worn at all times within Campus Recreation facilities.

7. Unauthorized use of camera/video/audio recording devices is prohibited. Authorization must be in writing and may only be provided by Campus Recreation full-time staff.

8. All drinks must be in sealed, non-glass containers while in activity areas. All other food and drink are prohibited in climbing wall area.

9. All accidents/injuries or incidents are to be reported to Climbing Wall Staff immediately.

10. Prior to climbing, all patrons must check in at the front desk and submit a waiver.

11. Over the ear headphones are not allowed while climbing. Only single eaerbud may be used while on the wall.

12. Climbers may use personal UIAA or CE certified carabiners, belay devices, chalk bags, and harnesses after inspection by qualified attendants.

13. Climbers should remove jewelry from their hands, loose fitting necklaces, and hoop earrings. Phones, wallets, keys, and other items should be emptied from pockets prior to climbing.

14. No swinging or jumping on ropes.

15. Grabbing onto bolt hangers or quickdraws is prohibited. Bolt hangers are for carabiners only.

16. Boulderers may not climb above or below other patrons.

17. Climbers may not switch holds. Please inform the Climbing Wall Staff if a hold needs attention.

18. Climbing shoes or sneakers must be worn at all times. No barefoot, flip-flops. open-toed sandals, hiking boots, or hard-soled shoes. Socks must be worn with rental shoes.
